Juneteenth: Readings for SU’s Observance of Black Liberation from Enslavement

On June 19, 1865, news of the Emancipation Proclamation finally arrived in the last reaches of enslavement in Texas, nearly two-and-a-half years after the Emancipation Proclamation had, de jure, taken effect. The Office of Diversity and Inclusion in partnership with SU Libraries have curated a reading list in observance of Juneteenth.
